“Juddie Buddie? Jeewdie Beewdie? Which is it?”
It took me a long time to figure out what sort of “screen name/Tag/alias” I wanted to give myself. My name is Judith but I’ve always gone by my nickname, “Judy” growing up. In high school, I took French in ninth grade. I’ll never forget this teacher. Her name was Ms. Chase. She was quite the piece of work. I look back though and think about how rude we were as kids. I was the quiet kid but I had friends that were more forward and “louder” than I was with opinions.
She was my first “foreign” teacher I had encountered in my whole 14 years of life. She was a French native and had the stereotypical accent and everything. I had taken French in eighth grade and there was definitely no accent to get used to hearing so this was a completely new sound for me.
To cut to the chase (pun intended), I knew all the days of the week in French. Our teacher would state them every day as well. It amused me that with her perfect French accent, she would state “Aujourd’hui c’est Jeudi!” at the start of class. I kept thinking she was calling my name, Judy, because of the same pronunciation. Later in life as I started working and attending Uni as a young adult to an adult, I’ve learned to enjoy Thursdays since I’d usually be assigned that day off. It became a habit to look forward to Thursdays and they became my favorite day of the week. There’s the “Jeudi” part of my name and now you know.
“Beudi” is just an alternative way to spelling “Booty” (haha). Pretty much my whole life, I’ve heard the phrase “Judy Booty”. I ended up playing with the spelling and it’s all fallen into place. Never felt like any other “screenname” (you can probably tell I grew up during the AOL instant messenger era) has fit me as well as this one. I’ve made so many in the past that didn’t feel like me and now I feel satisfied. So whether you cared for this story or not, here it is and I’m stickin’ to it.
Have a lovely day ya’ll!
Love,
-Jeudi
